Наш земляк став найкращим у ваговій категорії до 109 кг. Українець посів перше місце у поштовху (226 кг) і в сумі двоборства. У ривку Чумак показав четвертий результат (181 кг).
За сумою двоборства українець випередив представників Болгарії та Росії.
Вага до 109 кілограмів – олімпійська, тому результат Євро-2021 буде врахований в олімпійській кваліфікації.
Для збірної України – це уже четверте “золото” на чемпіонаті Європи. Перші три золоті медалі виграли жінки: у вагових категоріях до 55, 75 та 81 кілограма.
Для Дмитра Чумака – це уже третє “золото” в кар’єрі на чемпіонатах Європи. Усі три “золота” він здобув у трьох різних вагах – 2017 рік (до 94 кг), 2019 рік (до 102 кг), 2021 рік (до 109 кг).
